BACKGROUND
As a child Shiori thought nothing much of become a ninja. She enjoyed drawing in the dirt, finger painting and reading. When her older sister, Yuki, entered the chunin exams she went to support her. Inspired by all of the shinobi working to achieve chunin rank Shiori became inspired and wished to enter the ninja academy at the early age of 7. She graduated early as 8.

However, despite her hobbies, adoration for her sister and admiration for her father, Shiori was very cold and distant. She thought the idea of making friends was pointless saying she didn't need to get close anybody. When Shiori graduates the academy she is put in cell 6 with fellow genin Junpei Oto and Miyuki Yuhi. Miyuki tries to make friends with Shiori but she quickly dismisses her. She even stated Miyuki was annoying.

It was her team leader, Daichi Inuzuka, who changed her perspective on friendship and teamwork slightly. He told her she was exactly like him when he was young: cold and distant (which he still was). After talking with him Shiori tried to connect with her teammates, which ultimately failed due to their completely different personalities. When Miyuki died trying to protect Shiori her perspective on friendship and teamwork changed drastically, much like Kakashi Hatake's when his teammate Obito Uchiha died. Shiori then believed that friendship was what kept shinobi out of the darkness.

When she was promoted to chunin she started to act a little more outgoing and friendly, especially toward Junpei. Miyuki told her countless times how she had beautiful hair and she should grow it out, which was what exactly Shiori did. She started to act more like a 'girl' than a 'tomboy'. However, she still didn't feel comfortable with getting too close to people. During her and Junpei's first mission as chunin's Shiori's perspective on this changed again when Junpei was almost decapitated. She then decided to change who she was and swore on Miyuki's grave that she would be the kind of person Miyuki wanted, or rather hoped, she would be: making friends and caring for her teammates, keeping them close no matter what.

PERSONALITY
Shiori is very free spirited, easygoing, laid back and outgoing, much in contrast to her childhood personality. She has very similar hobbies to what she had when she was child. She loves to draw (paint, color, etc...) and often spends time with Sai. However she doesn't read as often as she used to and reads more manga than anything else. Neji often comments on this (which earns him braids in his hair) and claims that when she tries to read an actual book she is one of the slowest readers he's ever seen. Much like Kakashi, Shiori has read and enjoyed the 'Make Out' series, something she states to Naruto and Kiba bluntly.

Shiori is close friends with several jonin and even some chunin. Her best friends consist of Kakashi, Guy, Kurenai and Genma. She is also seen tormenting Izumo and Kotetsu, often getting them into trouble with comical items such as chocolate syrup, flour, tomato sauce and feathers. Like the members of Rookie Nine her academy teacher was Iruka Umino, who she remains especially close to. She is also greatly respected amongst her peers; despite her personality and constant pranks on Izumo and Kotetsu she is skilled in battle strategy and is quite knowledgeable.

Rai Kirijo, her father, is an excellent jonin with a reputation that rivals Kakashi's. This casts a large shadow on Shiori; however, she has no interest in living up to her father's reputation (although Guy says she has the potential to do so). Shiori's goal was to become a great kunoichi, much like her sister before her.

Iruka states that Shiori was very 'different' from most ninja. She has the habit of randomly 'attacking' for people for random reasons. Her first meeting with Kiba and Naruto was over an imaginary cat (supposedly) named Mr. Fuzzy-Boots. She also refers to many people with the suffix 'chan', however disregards that habit during serious situations. She will also occasionally say something completely random to lighten up the mood. This makes most think little of her, but many shinobi know what she's capable of her.

APPEARANCE
Shiori appears in several of my stories (although so far I've got two and she's only made an appearance in the first one). She has long brown hair and has green eyes. When she was young she wore it short. Her deceased teammate, Miyuki Yuhi, commented saying her hair was beautiful and suggested she should grow it out. Refusing at first, when Miyuki died Shiori took the advice and grew it out; now she states she looks terrible with short hair and prefers it long.

Shiori wears the Konohagakura ninja headband around her neck, which she wore previously on her forehead when she was younger. It moved to her head in a similar fashion to Sakura's when she became a chunin and was in the process of growing her hair out. She wears a long sleeved, pink chinese blouse, black gloves with metal plates on them, black pants and open sandals.

She is only known to wear the standard ninja uniform during war.

ABILITIES

The Kirijo family originated in the Land of Spirits, an island miles away off the north-eastern coast of the Land of Fire. This explains why Shiori is mastered in the spirit release chakra nature. The spirit release allows her to excel in any chakra nature of her choice. Shiori also excels in all three types of jutsu. However she has the chakra enhanced strength used by both Tsunade and Sakura, she doesn't use it very often. She claims it scares the 'elves'. However, she is fully capable of using the technique.

* Shiori is an insomniac.

* She seems to enjoy thunder storms.

* Her hobbies consist of drawing, singing, painting, coloring, cooking, baking, writing, reading, and storm watching. She enjoys sleeping, but clearly doesn't get enough of it.

* Her favorite animals are dolphins and dogs, although she claims she loves all of them.

* She enjoys pocky and any kind of junk food, leading to a quick friendship with Chouji. She also loves Ichiraku Ramen and is constantly having ramen eating contests with Naruto.

* She is constantly taking Shino's glasses and jacket. She claims her personal goal is to make him laugh or smile. (Kiba wishes her luck on that.)

* She wishes to fight Kakashi, Kurenai, Guy, and Naruto.

* Her favorite items are pillows, blankets and pajams.

* She likes cute things. She is noted to have a collection of stuffed animals. (Although, according to Ino, her idea of cute isn't what people would expect.)
